The Story of My Business Journey
One day, I received a call from a mental health counselor from Junction City, Kansas. She stated that she needed support for her practice. First, she needed administrative assistance. I took the incoming calls, scheduled appointments, registered new clients, managed the veteran clients’ referrals and authorizations, and collaborated with her business associates through emails and faxes. As time progressed, she wanted me to handle the clients’ insurance claims.
Second, this pivoted me into becoming a certified medical biller. I verified her client’s insurance, proofed claims for errors, and posted insurance claims manually that were not ACH payments. I navigated through Availity for EOBs. I updated clients’ records and followed up on the invoices to make sure the balances were paid. This was performed in Simple Practice.
Finally, I pursued education to become a certified medical biller, HIPAA certification in awareness for mental health and business associates. I am a member of the American Medical Billing Association to stay current on the changes in mental health billing. I have three years of experience in medical billing and currently seeking new opportunities to continue this journey.
Testimonial
“K&W Virtual Administrative Assistant came at a time when I truly needed to have more help and get things more streamlined for my private practice. They were able to assist with making this possible and building a more solid foundation on what I needed for things to run more effectively in my practice administratively speaking. I appreciate the assistance provided to me and to my clients. I did not have to overly concern myself with day-to-day administration duties such as scheduling, working with insurance companies, and providing documentation to different entities I was contracted with. The key points I liked were attention to detail, clients enjoyed the communication, and was prompt with deadlines.”
